I admit it's great fun to get media requests for expert commentary of color, lifestyle, and design. And then sometimes, you get a request that could be a bucket list item, if you were the type to make one, (I'm not -- I like to be surprised.)

This request was one of those requests. I was asked by a journalist to provide commentary on the aesthetic of Tim Burton's Netflix series, Wednesday. In that commentary I was also asked to address the historical context of the original Addam's Family TV show and movie. The piece appeared in DWELL Magazine, https://www.dwell.com/article/how-the-addams-family-aesthetic-has-evolved-wednesday-netflix-series-6c9012eb-5ddaaba9. My contributions filled out an excellent article for not only fans of the Addams Family, in all its cinematic expressions, but fans of Tim Burton and entertainment behind-the-scenes.

"Because Wednesday Addams is the central character of the series, the aesthetic is meticulously planned around her by Burton and the set and wardrobe designers," Hathaway says. "The series uses color extensively to not only define characters, but also Wednesday’s new world. The most delightful use of color is the juxtaposition of Wednesday’s black aesthetic next to her new roommate’s princess-like colors, including a large stained-glass window split down the middle [of their dorm] in color and black and white." -Diana
